At Langstone Primary School we have a range of proactive Pupil Voice groups, whose activities impact positively on life and learning across the school. Children are required to apply for these roles, by way of an application letter, or in the case of Head and Deputy Head Boy and Girl, by way of a presentation, stating why they would like to become a member, and what personal qualities and attributes they would bring to the team. Our current Proud Pioneer groups are:
Class Ministers
Language Legends
Leafy Leaders
Pupil Leadership Team (including our Head and Deputy Head Boys and Girls)
Tech Tigers
Well-being Warriors
Children have the opportunity to take part in musical groups within the school including:
Only Music Aloud (Year 1 and 2)
Key Stage Two Choir (Years 3 - 6)
Rehearsals for these take place weekly and all children are welcome to join and share a love of music. The choirs perform on many occasions throughout the year, both in and around our school community, as well as numerous performances supporting our local church.
Children also have the opportunity to learn an instrument through the Gwent Music Support Service and OC Music. Instruments available to learn currently are:
Brass (Trumpet, Cornet, Trombone, French Horn)
Drums
Guitar
Piano
Singing
Violin
Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone)
Learning takes place in school hours, with the children receiving one lesson of 10, 20 or 30 minutes per week. Fees are paid directly to the music service providers and all information regarding tuition, books, etc comes from them. If your children is interested in learning an instrument, please e-mail the school directly to express an interest.
