Welcome to Langstone Primary School!
As Chairperson of our Governing Body and on behalf of my fellow Governors, I would like to welcome you and thank you for your interest in Langstone Primary School, a school that truly goes from strength to strength thanks to the hard work and passion shown by all the staff, pupils, parents and governors.
Estyn also awarded the school an ‘Excellent’ rating for improvement prospects due to the well organised approach to learning, high levels of staff development and teamwork and a strong history of achieving challenging improvement targets.
The school has also been awarded ‘Green’ status as part of the National school categorisation system; reflecting the high standards and exceptional quality of leadership and development right across the school. Langstone is regularly involved in sharing ideas and experience with other schools and in 2016 was selected to be part of the Pioneer Schools Network and is at the forefront of implementing the New National Curriculum.
As well as high standards of teaching and learning, the school supports all pupils to take part in a wide range of activities both during and after the school day. There are a number of extremely successful sports clubs including rugby, football, gymnastics and dance. Children are offered the opportunity to develop their artistic abilities with art clubs and competitions along with the chance to play a range of instruments, join the orchestra or sing in the choir. In addition, there are regular trips and activities to help children put their learning into context outside the classroom.
Langstone Primary School recognises the importance and significance the role of parents and the wider family have in learning. The Home Learning reflects the opportunities for parents and families to ‘get involved’ with child development at all levels.
The Governing Body of Langstone Primary School consists of 14 members from a variety of backgrounds, including parent governors the Local Authority, the community of Langstone and its surrounding area and staff at the school. They are very keen supporters of everything the school undertakes and achieves and work closely with the Headteacher to make decisions about the curriculum, finance, Staffing, and the school's buildings. They help form the school's aims and policies and act as a link between the local community and the school.
As the Chair of the Governing Body and a parent of children at the school, I am able to see first-hand, the incredible team effort that helps to enrich our children’s lives at Langstone. The dedication and professionalism demonstrated by all staff and Governors; the proactivity and fundraising expertise of our hard working PTA; and the wider support given by parents and supporters of the school within our community all ensures that life at Langstone Primary School is fun and supports our vision that ‘Learning Promotes Success’.
